Your season never leaves your device.

PEP has two halves, and they collect very different amounts. The game — everything you play — runs entirely in your own browser. No account, no sign-up, nothing sent anywhere. The shop — a paid subscription, a welcome box, the newsletter — needs your name, your email and somewhere to post things to, because otherwise we cannot post you anything.

The two are kept apart on purpose, and the rest of this page explains how. It also covers the parts that are inconvenient for you, because a promise like this one has real trade-offs and you should know them before you invest a season in it.

The Wall Between Them

We may know your address. We still know nothing about your season.

If you subscribe, we hold a subscriber record — a name, an email, a place to send a box. That record contains no gameplay data of any kind, and it never will.

This is not a policy we are promising to follow. It is a fact about how the thing is built: your season is written into your own browser and is never transmitted, so there is no copy of it anywhere for us to attach your name to. We could not join the two if we wanted to.

Where exactly is my season kept?

In your browser's own storage — localStorage, with a copy in IndexedDB — under the address you opened PEP at. It is the same mechanism a site uses to remember that you prefer dark mode. Nothing is transmitted.

This means your season belongs to that browser, on that device. Your phone and your laptop hold two separate seasons. They do not sync, because syncing would require us to hold your data, and we do not.

What would delete it?

Clearing your browsing data or site data. Using private or incognito browsing, which discards everything when you close the window. Uninstalling the browser. Losing or resetting the device.

And one you would not expect

Safari on iPhone and iPad deletes a site's stored data after seven days of Safari use in which you did not visit that site. This is a deliberate Apple privacy feature and it applies to PEP the same as to any other site. Every visit resets the clock, so daily play is unaffected — but if you try PEP, like it, and come back a fortnight later, your season may be gone.

We are telling you this because it is the single most likely way you would lose a season, and finding out afterwards would be worse.

So how do I keep it safe?

Take a copy. In the app, the season page has Copy, which puts your entire season on your clipboard as text — paste it into a note, an email to yourself, anywhere you keep things. Restore from a copy takes that text back. It is also how you move to a new phone.

The app shows a line on the Today screen whenever there is work your last copy has not seen. That line is the whole backup system, and it is honest: we cannot protect your season for you, so we make it trivial for you to protect it yourself.

What happens if I subscribe?

You give us a name, an email address and — if your subscription includes a welcome box — a postal address. We use them for exactly three things:

  • confirming your subscription and taking payment;
  • posting you the things your subscription includes;
  • sending you the newsletter, which you can stop at any time.

Payment is handled by PAYMENT PROCESSOR, who take your card details directly. We never see or store a card number. Fulfilment and postage are handled by FULFILMENT PARTNER, who receive only the name and address needed to deliver the parcel.

We keep subscriber records for as long as you are a subscriber, and afterwards only as long as we must for tax and accounting purposes — RETENTION PERIOD. Ask us to delete you sooner and we will, apart from anything the law requires us to keep.

The newsletter

The newsletter is published through NEWSLETTER PLATFORM, which holds your email address in order to send it and applies its own privacy policy to that. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect your subscription or your season.

We do not sell, rent or share the list.

What about the fonts?

Some pages on this site load typefaces from Google Fonts. When they do, your browser makes a request to Google's servers, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request, as it would for any site using the service. No information about your season is involved — the request is for a font file.

The app itself embeds its typeface directly and makes no external requests at all once loaded.

Where is the site hosted?

The pages are served as static files by HOSTING PROVIDER, which — like all web hosts — processes standard server request logs, including IP addresses, in order to deliver the page to you. We do not add analytics on top of that and we do not build profiles from it.

Is there a PEP Park, a club, a leaderboard?

Those features are designed but not yet connected to anything. Today they run entirely on your own device, like the rest of the game. If that ever changes — if a real shared leaderboard arrives — it will be something you opt into, it will be described plainly on this page before it ships, and the wall above stays standing: what you choose to publish to a club is not the same thing as your season, and your season stays yours.

Children

PEP Playbook™ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly take a subscription from one. The game itself collects nothing from anyone of any age.

Your rights over your data

Laws such as the GDPR and Brazil's LGPD give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you.

Over your season, you already hold all four outright — we have no copy to hand over or erase. Copy exports it, the app edits it, and clearing your site data deletes it permanently and immediately.

Over your subscriber record — the name, email and address you gave us — write to hello@pep.community and we will show you what we hold, correct it, send it to you, or delete it. We will not ask you why.

This is not medical advice

PEP Playbook is a game for building and protecting habits. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is not a substitute for care from a professional. If you are unwell, please talk to someone qualified — and consider making them your Go-To Resource.
